First Short Hike of 2015

I started last year using an app on my phone called MapMyWalk - it maps your hikes, walks, runs, mowing the yard, etc. It started for me with just walks and worked up to hikes - I live in Colorado so there are lots of places to hike.

In 2014, I reached my goal of 10 miles a week and then up'd the goal to 15 miles per week. I believe I made that goal twice. Over Christmas break I was bad and did not walk - but like 1-2 miles for 2 weeks. Then the 5th of January I really started busting chops again and made 9 miles in the week.

This week I am already at 6.5 miles in 2 days (Sun and Mon) in a total of 2 hours, 3 work outs and 1035 calories burned. I am at the 6.5 miles mostly because of my 4.65 mile hike on Sunday January 11.

I hiked (full pack and snowboots) from my cabin to the YMCA of the Rockies along the horse trails and back through a portion of Rocky Mountain National Park.

I thought I would share some of the pictures with you! I don't know if I will make 15 miles this week with the cold and potential weather conditions but I am going to try! I hope all of you make your fitness goals this year!

It's been a busy week

I have been very busy with work this week at my main job but I did manage to get some models worked on even though there was iffy weather and a lot of long hours.

First off is a Collecta TWH to black (blue) roan done in acrylics and colored pencils hand painted.

Then a Collecta Morgan to black chestnut (liver chestnut) done in acrylics hand painted.

Finally a Breyer Little Bit/Paddock Pal Morgan to bay in acrylics hand painted.

I love working in pastels and earth pigments better, but I force myself to work on my acrylics too because I know that I can get better with each one. And brush painting is very different from doing airbrush acrylics.

Now I am off to finish some props that have been setting and then back to 3 Schleich models and several Breyer Stablemates.

First Custom of 2015

My first completed model of 2015 is a Breyer Huck Bey 1:9 scale Traditional model - he is a belated Christmas Gift (went on his way today to Canada).

He started out a little rough and with the weather going from 30+ to -30 I had a hard time getting him done.

How he started

I am very pleased with him and I hope he is well received by his new owner. Now on to all the other horses in the box - so many to do!

Pay It Forward With Art

Each year I have done a Pay It Forward with Art on January 1 since 2012 on my Facebook page. I select a certain number of people and in return they must post it and can select a number of people they will gift art to etc, etc.

Here is what it looks like:

I hereby promise to make a small work of art for the first seven people who comment on this post and say “YES, I want in.” A ‘like’ alone is not enough of a commitment. You must, in turn, post this as your status update (or it will not count to receive the art) and make something for the people who comment on your status (you may choose the number of people). The rules are simple: it has to be your work, made by you, and the recipient must receive it before 2015 ends. I will announce the winners for mine at the end of the day today (around 8 PM MST) (January 1, 2015) and throughout this year I will make art to send to the seven winners. If you have played in the past (2012, 2013 or 2014) and won art from me - please let others have a chance this year. Thank you.

This year there are 7 lucky people who will receive art - Nancy, Beth, Robin, Stephanie, Shelly, Michelle and Christy.

I will post what I send each as I make it.

I hope you all have a wonderful art year!
