My second comic con in 20+ years. I decided to go because it was close to home and Katee Sackhoff, Adam Bartley, and Robert Taylor were there!
I was so bummed to find out that Adam and Robert canceled ๐ as I was going to do a group shot with them - but Katee was still coming and I signed up to get an autograph with Brendan Wayne. And then Ashley Eckstein came!!!! I am so excited!!!
The drive down to Colorado Springs was a HOLY CRAP drive - Denver at 2 PM on a Thursday - WTF!!! It was 3 hours of heat and hell because the A/C won't work in Stop and Go Traffic. OMG and the number of wrecks was insane - people wrapping guard rails around thier cars, high centered on guard rails, etc. EKKKKKK
I made it safely to my hotel. Got my room, unloaded the truck, and went walking to see how close the venue was. App said 1/2 mile but I think it was less than that. Everything was well marked and I walked back to the hotel feeling comfortable in knowing where I was going. I ordered Outback Steakhouse because it was close and they will do food for people with celiac. OMG - the honey buttered Sweet potato was AMAZING!!!!
I stayed that the La Quinta on Geyser - it was nice - would stay there again 4 stars except for the section of sidewalk that has a random step up/down that is NOT marked and you can't see in the dark - it face planted Sunday morning leaving - both arms skinned up and both knees. WOW. Other than that - great room, great A/C, and good breakfast plus close the the venue and restaurants.
Friday the Con didn't start until 3 PM (2 PM for VIPs) I got over there at 1 PM and was like the 30th person in line. I did manage to secure a Locker because i was in the first 100 VIPS and I met Jennifer who kind of showed me everything since she'd done it before. She was awesome and I am glad I met her.
Next time I will remember to bring a sun shade or umbrella - because my Bag was keeping off the sun.
After Jennifer and I went our own ways - I waited for my chance to get an autograph with Ashley Eckstein - the voice actrees for Ahsoka Tano in The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. I have loved her for ages and never met her until now.
So Friday was AHSOKA day - I was in my Ahsoka linen pants, t-shirt hat, backpack and bag! When I met Ahsley, she asked me what other con she saw me at and I said never this is the first and she was like NO. I know you. I told her I follow her on instagram and have commented on her Mentalhealth monday posts and she asked my handle - i told her it's my name and she knew it! ๐ฅฐ She is awesome! So happy I finally got to meet her!
I did some shopping and got my VIP goodies, then went back to Outback for dinner as I was so pooped from all the walking.
Then Saturday I was up and to the venue by 8:15 am and in when they opened for the VIP at 9 am. I shopped and then went over to the celebrity areas to get Katee Sackhoff and Brendan Wayne's autographs.
I was the first in line to see her and we started talking as she was signing the pic and the guy behind me was talking over us trying to get her attention, so her handler was like come out here and get pix and we did then Katee talked to me for a few minutes away from her table so the cheesedick couldn't talk over us. I told her i was a patreon and that her podcast made me sad this past week and that I loved Bo and can't wait for her to play her again.
Then it was over to see Brendan Wayne who is the Mando in to suit to Pedro Pascal's voice unless they are showing Pedro's face. Brendan is the main Mando (Lateef does the fight scenes). He was nice to chat too and We had to get Grogu in the Pic too.
The one thing that irritates me with the art work is it's NOT signed - so I don't have the artist's names and they didn't have business cards so...... I can't tell WHO did the art work.
Then I went to the Star Wars Panel - it was great having Live action and Voice actors there. Lots of fun and no spoilers for the movie!
