The Witching Hour is close. ๐ธ October is always fun - fall, winter, Halloween. The staff activities at the YMCA this month were A LOT and I wished I could do them ALL!!!
October 2nd - I was going to do the Ceramic Wands activity, but canceled as I had a long drive ahead of me the following day.
October 3rd - 6th I went back to Kansas. With the help of my WONDERFUL friends: Lennah, Phyllis, William, and Sam, I had an Estate sale at mom's place. Did not sell much - amazingly ALL of her "friends" and the people that had been bugging me for MONTHS did NOT show. Crickets chirping. I will have a whole blog on choosing your tribe - as my mother chose poorly, sadly.
October 7th - I was to do the Hexagon Shadow Box activity at the Y but it was canceled and I was okay with that, because I was exhausted from traveling. Also, the Library waited until 15 minutes before a class I wanted to do was starting to say oh you can come - I missed out because I don't check my email 500 times a day- so bummed ๐
October 9th - I did a lunch and learn with Lindsey White the Vice President of Business Development at the YMCA. She had some great information and ideas. I did find myself feeling like I had done nothing with my life when listening to all the traveling and jobs she had worked. Amazing career. But I know we each grow in our own way and I really don't know what I want to be when I grow up yet ๐
also on October 9th I did the Paint spooky book ends.
On October 11 I worked housekeeping for 3 hours trying to help the housekeeping department as it was so busy. Poor little Buttercup got to know what it was to haul cleaning stuff around as the ole red truck did it for years.
They accidentally put November 17, 2024 on the Certificate! It was completed October 17, 2024 |
October 18th I helped my friend Deborah move some things into her and her husband's new place! Paying forward what was done for me. It didn't seem like enough, but I was glad to help.
October 19th I LED the Paint Fantasy Horses Staff Activity at the Y!!!
I really was happy to see a few people were able to make it around their busy schedules with Housekeeping, Food Service, and CSS duties and that they seemed to have fun too! I hope to do it again.
October 22nd - After work, I led the embroidery staff activity. It was well attended and I think everyone enjoyed it. I can't wait to see everyone's finished pieces. I sent them home with their own scissors and needle threaders because you can never have enough of those!
October 24th-28th I worked for Photos by Lennah in Colorado at the Colorado Springs Kennel Club Cluster Dog Show. It was a good show though I had a lot of outside stressors.
October 29th - Tuesday was a big day. The sale went through on my mom's house. It is the close of her chapter and I am full of several different emotions. It's been so stressful and I am so relieved and sad. It's the start of a different world for me without my mom in it.
If you live in the Kansas City/Topeka area - this is the realtor I used and he was/is AWESOME!!!
I was supposed to do the Make a Ring staff activity on the 29th but I was so overwhelmed and exhausted I just couldn't do it.
October 30th I signed up for Paper Mache Pumpkins activity but it was snowing and I just wanted to go home and cuddle in my cabin.
October 31st - I didn't have my full Bo-Katan cosplay done yet, but I did Budget Bo-Katan ๐ I didn't do the Costume Contest at lunch because my lunch is from 1-2 and this was 11-12, but I did go out to greet the kids from the day care when they came to get candy.
And then I went to a Death Cafรฉ - it wasn't like a grief support group or the like, but talking about aspects of death, setting up end of life stuff. It was actually therapeutic in its own right. Talking to older folks about what I just went through was so so helpful.
